At the age of 15 I started sculpting in
clay that I dug out of the marshes of the
Chesapeake Bay. Art was my absolute
passion. At the age of 18 I moved to
California and quickly ended up carving
fountains .
One of my greatest inspirations in art
was Chris Muller. Chris was a very
gentle soul and one of the kindest and
most gifted sculptors I have ever known.
He was a natural teacher. I was 20
years old when I met Chris at 70 years
young. Chris came from a family of 3
generations of master sculptors. His
sculptural work at Balboa Park in San
Diego is legendary. I was his only
apprentice. I worked with Chris and a
team of master european sculptors as
an apprentice. Shortly after Chris gave
me my big break and saw to it that I
became the lead of the sculpting team.
From there my career really took off.
I started working for Walt Disney
Imagineering in 1987. Here I worked with
a team of the most talented artists I had
ever come across . With gratitude, I
thank my Disney Mentors for teaching
me a mountain knowledge that
catapulted my rock work career.
I have now been designing and building
rock work attractions for over 35 years.
To say the least it has been an
incredible journey to have worked with
thousands of creative people from
around the world.
